The last job was to bring the fin and bulb up to weight. I needed 16gms in the bulb. As luck would have it there was a hole in the bulb at the front of the fin slot so I was able to hammer lead shot into the space to bring the bulb up to weight. The weight reduction is a reflection on how light the Craig Smith fin is. It is a beautiful piece of work but equally comparible to fins from Robot Yachts, Dave Creed, Sailsetc new Alioth and any other fins available on UK shore.
So now ready for some 2 boat testing. All that is needed is some decent wind and a tuning partner. There are 4 months in which to optimise the boat and choose the configuration for the Worlds. Tick tock, tick tock.
By the way if you follow facebook and you are considering building your own boat, take a look at the latest post from Brad Gibson on BG Sails and Design. I build an alternative using blue craft foam in 2020 but this is not longer available. Several people asked me if there is an alternate. Thanks to Brad we now have one. The link to Easy Composites is on his post.
